Whilst we strive to reduce manual handling activities within our business, it will always have a roll to play.   As a consequence of this we have been working with Pristine Condition since 2004 to provide us with manual handling solutions.   

 

All of our employees have been through the comprehensive training programme with Pristine which has provided us with a model for improving behavioural safety throughout our business.  Their ability to engage people and keep them focused on the real issues and risks faced on a daily basis, not only in the workplace but also in everyday activities is key, coupled with their trainer’s natural humour and presence this all makes for a successful programme.  To date we have seen a 50% reduction in manual handling accidents and by continuing our relationship with Pristine we strive to improve. 

 

It is refreshing to see that they are constantly reviewing and updating their programmes and latterly we have implemented the ‘TRACA’ tool which provides ongoing monitoring and assessing in the workplace.  In the event that an employee sustains a manual handling accident we are able to call on the services of Pristine to provide us with support to determine root cause of the accident to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.  Similarly, if we have any equipment issues then they are able to provide us with consultancy to determine the best possible resolve.

 

On balance I would say that Pristine offers a sensible and pro-active approach to training and support which staff enjoy because it focuses on their workplace realities and not on how to move a box from a table to the floor.  Having Pristine’s knowledge and experience available on the end of a phone is of great benefit, and they are always willing to advise us with practical solutions to problems.
